Aussie-themed Party: Suggestions Welcome

Next week we have some very special Australian guests coming for dinner. I won't say yet who they are but I will tell you I'm very, very excited.

As part of the latest Aussie Angels challenge, myself and my chap are throwing a small Aussie-themed dinner party - and I need your help!

Help me plan my Aussie-themed party

I'd very much like my Australian guests to feel at home (which is difficult in Barnsley), so I'd appreciate any Aussie-themed suggestions.

I'm currently umming and ahhing over what to cook. It has to be something Australian and relatively easy to prepare (I'm no chef).

I've already had some fantastic suggestions from Sophie over at the Hungry House takeaways online website. She contacted me to say she used to live in Oz and recommended pavlova for dessert (stored now for my party!), potato salads, barbecues, meat pies and prawn cocktail.
Please do leave your suggestions below. I can't wait to reveal who's coming to dinner....

  1. being a proud aussie my self.. there are a few things i would love to have.

some lamingtons as well as a pavlova for dessert. as for dinner you can't beat an aussie bbq - sausages, lamb, some rissoles, veggies and some hot chips/mash potato/wedges.

as for a theme? you could do a beach theme based on our bondi beach, or just a general backyard barbie!

and don't forget some vegemite on toast and some tim tams!

    hope this helped :)

  2. @Lottie - Great idea but we don't have a garden/yard. We're on the top floor of a block of flats : ( x

@Bron - Ah some lovely ideas there. Thank you, I'm off online now to search some recipes featuring your suggestions! x
