My Mum's always been a keen runner, slipping on her trainers up to five times a week for a lengthy jog. But when her smoking habit threatened to put her off her stride (quite literally), she decided enough was enough and made the steps to quit.
That was more than 15 years ago now and she's never looked back.
Of course, there were many other reasons she decided to give cigs the heave ho - the overall health benefits for one. And as beauty fans, I'm sure we're all aware of the effects of smoking has on your skin and teeth.
I still don't know how my Mum managed it, but she decided to pack cigs in and that was that. No patches, no gum - no nothing.
I doubt she'd even heard of Vapestick electronic cigarettes back then, but I dare say she'd have looked into getting one if she'd had the chance.

Now I'm not wishing to come over all sanctimonious, but I've had just one cigarette in my 28 years - and that was just 3 years ago after one too many drinks. Needless to say I was sick as a dog, and like my Mum, haven't tried one again. Despite this I was always too worried one cigarette would lead to another, and another would quickly lead to a habit.
Had I not thrown up on my suede boots (true story) after that first cigarette, I too could still be hooked now.

Have you considered Vapestick?

I've never smoked myself, and know I never will, but my mom had to quit before she even got pregnant with me. My dad gave her a choice, and that was that.
ReplyDeleteMy grandma in law is using an electronic cigarette, and I have to say that the social aspect is better. She doesn't have to leave in the middle for a break, she can whip it out and you would never know she was smoking unless you looked at her. She lives far away, so it's nice to have a few more minutes with family, I'm sure.
Wow, great that she had the willpower to quit too - and glad to hear your grandma is getting on okay with the electronic cigarette x
