Phew! Got back home in the early hours of this morning after a manic couple of days reporting for NME at Radio One's One Big Weekend festival in Carlisle.
I set off at the crack of dawn (well, 8am-ish) Saturday morning to check into this lovely little B&B in Penrith - whose staff couldn't have been more accommodating during my stay. They even let me leave my car there for a whole 2 days, despite having only stayed for the one night!
After leaving my belongings at said B&B, I jumped on the shuttle bus to the site - ready for a day of watching and interviewing acts. The day's line-up included Foo Fighters, special guests Arctic Monkeys, Plan B, Jessie J, Chase and Status, Black Eyes Peas and Nicole Scherzinger - and I managed to grab interview time with Tinie Tempah and Friendly Fires (read my mini reports here and here!).
After the Foo Fighters' fantastic closing main stage set at 9pm, I made the hour journey back to my hotel on the shuttle bus to grab a few much-needed hours' sleep before I did it all again on Sunday.
Headlining the main stage on Sunday was, of course, Gaga. What a show! Joining her on the bill was My Chemical Romance, Bruno Mars, The Strokes, The Script, Taio Cruz and more. But one of the highlights of the day (for me at least) was grabbing a chat with rapper Professor Green - who revealed plans for his new album as well as a new collaboration he has his eye on. Watch this space! Seriously though, what a nice chap - he even gave me a kiss on the cheek as I sat down to speak to him.
Tinie Tempah was also a gent; offering to hold my camera, notebook and pens while I interviewed him. They're not all attitude, these rappers...

While reporting on an event like this isn't quite as glamorous as it sounds (I spent much of the weekend stuck in the press tent with about 60 fellow journos and photographers - and the rest watching bands on my own), I still had loads of fun. It was also pretty grim weather but I went prepared in wellies and huge duffel coat.
In terms of music, I caught Arctic Monkeys' set, The Strokes, Two Door Cinema Club, Foo Fighters, My Chemical Romance, Black Eyes Peas, Chase and Status, Tinie Tempah, Gaga and a couple of promising new bands over on the BBC Introducing stage.
Did you make it along to Carlisle too? Or did you enjoy watching the coverage with your slippers on in front of the telly?
Coming up on A Lauren to Herself....
