It's been a few weeks since I last wrote a Stash it or Trash it (SIOTI) post. So without further ado, here's my latest instalment.
Today we have two products in the SIOTI spotlight....
The first is a skin care item...the Raiyia Body Treatment Mask (pictured below). The second is Maybelline's The Falsies Volum' Express mascara. So which product will I stash (add to my collection for regular use) or trash (bin it, say so long, wave ta ta to)?
Read on to find out....
First up, the body mask.
Here's the product blurb:
"Our 97% natural Raiyia No6 Bergamot, Ginger and Cocoa Butter Body Treatment Mask (£30) sends you on a sensory journey to the citrus groves and spice trail. Evocative fragrances of Lemon, Bergamot, Mandarin, Mate, Rosemary, Petitgrain, Ginger, Nutmeg and Anis awaken and uplift your mood whilst bestowing their many therapeutic benefits."
So far, so luxurious. But does the product live up to its claims?
First off, the product smelled divine; good enough to eat, in fact.
A gorgeous pampering treat, the mask was extremely moisturising and is best used before a shower or bath. After applying, I fastened a towel around my chest and relaxed for 15 minutes (as directed) while the ingredients got to work. Afterwards I jumped in the bath to 'let the product melt away' before moisturising.
My skin really did feel super soft after the treatment.
Is it worth the £30 price tag? For me, no. I'd much rather spend the money on something else, but it was definitely luxurious and made a really nice (and welcome!) treat. It's also a great idea for Mother's Day (April 3rd) and can be purchased from Harrods, Fortnum and Mason and John Lewis. For now, I'll be adding this to my Stash It pile and I can't wait to use it again.
So how did the Maybelline Mascara fare in the Stash it or Trash it spotlight?
Here's what the product claims to do:
"The Falsies Mascara delivers a false lash look; giving you a full set of voluminous, bold, fanned out lashes and the appearance of no gaps from any angle.
The Pro-Keratin and Fibre enriched formula is designed to deliver immediate results, distributing volume and visible intensity to your lashes. The patented ‘Spoon’ shaped brush helps fan lashes out."
I'm a massive fan of Maybelline's Volum' Express mascara (the one in the yellow tube) In fact, I can't rave about it enough. For its relatively cheap (about £6) price tag, it really does a fantastic job. I'm lucky to have naturally long lashes anyway but I always receive compliments when I wear this mascara. Someone even noticed how long my lower lashes looked when I this popular mascara. So it's fair to say I had high hopes for the Falsies Volum' Express mascara.
Perhaps my expectations were set too high, but this was a HUGE let down for me.
It's pricier than Volum' Express (at around £8) and did nothing but clump my lashes and give that dreaded spidery-effect. Yuk. It was also an absolute pain to remove. So disappointed!
So you've guessed it! This is most definitely one for the 'Trash it' pile.
But as I said in a previous post, I'll be collecting all my Trash it products together (which already includes a Miners mascara and Avon eyeshadow palette) and offering them in a prize draw (with a few other goodies I haven't yet got round to trying) to my subscribers.
Keep your eyes peeled!
What have you tried and loved recently? Or have any products let you down?
FTC Disclaimer: The Raiyia Body Treatment Mask was sent to me for review, while I paid for the Maybelline Mascara with my own pennies. I'm not affiliated with either company, neither have I been paid to do this post. All opinions are my own and 100% honest, as always.
I actually LOVE the falsies mascara! Did you wipe off the excess mascara to avoid spider eyes? I still have to try the Colossal mascara, I've heard good things.
