First we had Make Up For Ever's refreshing ad campaign; four separate ads featuring four women taking self-portraits of themselves on their mobiles to advertise the brand's HD line.
You can see a more detailed post over on Fee's blog. Thank you Fee!
But in Rimmel's latest advert it appears that poor Zooey Deschanel's face has been distorted to the extreme - to the extent that the brand has actually made her look worse.
I'll let the two ad campaigns speak for themselves, but what I will say is hats off to Make Up For Ever. At last, a 'real' portrayal of how make-up can enhance one's looks.
Rimmel, on the other hand....
First up, Make Up For Ever....
It appears that Zooey's lips have been distorted here. And here's an image of the 'real' Zooey...
Which ad do you prefer? Do I even need to ask?
Love Lauren x

Thanks for the little link :)
ReplyDeleteI think Rimmel right from the straight stripped her of all her quirky-ness!
With every ad she looks even stranger....
Defintely don't need to tell you which I prefer :)
Fee x
Zooey looks so much better IRL than she does on that Rimmel advert.
ReplyDeleteAs a consumer I'd be way more likely to buy something from MUFE than Rimmel, I want to see what the product actually does, not a digitally enhanced version of what they want the effect to be x
I hate when they make gorgeous girls look bad! What is the point of that?! I definitely agree that she looks worse :/
ReplyDeleteshe definitely looks better without all the airbrushing
ReplyDeleteBow Dream Nation xx
Oh my gosh! What's up with her nose?! This is a joke! She's so beautiful! x
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny that you should link me to your blog today, I was sitting in the chemist this morning, waiting for my prescription, staring at their Rimmel P.O.S and trying to work out if the model on it just looked a bit like Zooey Deschanel, or if it actually is her. Total fail by Rimmel, and sends a terrbile message to consumers, too.
