Let me explain myself....
First we had Nars' infamous 'Orgasm' and 'Deep Throat' blushes but now Illamasqua is the latest make-up brand to go all saucy on us - with a new collection of cheekily named products for Valentine's Day.
The saucily titled Nars Orgasm blush (above) gets a run for its money
An email just popped into my inbox, inviting me to buy make-up from the new range, which includes nail varnishes named 'Throb', 'Milf', 'Blow' and 'Phallic' (really, is this a suitable name for a nail polish?!), lipsticks in 'Climax' and 'Fetish', cream blushers in 'Rude' and 'Hussy' and cream eyeshadows in 'Suck', 'Sex' and 'Gimp' (I kid you not). If we were in April I'd be re-reading the date and checking this wasn't a 'fool'.
What do you think of cosmetic brands naming products in this way? Personally I think it's unnecessary and uncalled for.
Ah well, sex sells I suppose!

I think it's unnecessary too! xx
ReplyDeletethey are just riding on the good old trick "sex sells"
ReplyDeletei think it's a pretty desperate move though, having to name ALL your products like that
new follower here! great blog honey..i quite like the inuendo (shamefully) i always remember the names Xx
ReplyDeleteI got the same email and thought it was a bit much to be honest...I know the alter ego thing is part of their brand image but it's just a bit tacky!
ReplyDeleteThat's being rather rude... surely there are other names out there to name products. It's unnecessary, and rather desperate, as aforementioned.
ReplyDeleteI heard about this, I suppose they have done it to get us all interested and talking. I personally do not think a good product needs names like this though! xx
ReplyDeleteYep not needed at all! A girl in Superdrug was shocked/confused enough when I asked for Barry M Red Black the other day - imagine if I'd asked for Suck or Climax! Good grief.
ReplyDeleteI guess it's only a name, if the product is good who cares what it's called! And it did it's job in getting everyones attention ;) x
