Brooch-ing the Subject!

Fancy a sneaky peek inside my jewellery box?

You do? Okay, here goes...

I'm a big fan of all things vintage and especially love the odd kitsch item. As well as an ever growing tea cup collection (yep, I'm a geek!) I also have a thing for brooches. Some are modern and some are like something you'd see down at a WI meeting, but I love them all the same.

So without further ado, here's a little nosey at some of my favourites.

Boooootiful ain't they?

Let's take a closer look, my lovelies....

These two I picked up at an old millinery shop at the seaside. They cost little more than £5 each and I think they're both the stunning. The blue one hasn't pictured very well, but it's a stunning boho-esque shimmery blue.  I pinned the silver one onto a short grey blazer (which I teamed with a black pencil dress and bright red beaded necklace) for an important interview last summer.

This stunning green and pink flower brooch was given to me by my boyfriend's mum. It was her mother's brooch and it really meant a lot to me that she gave it to me. I'm too afraid to wear it out as it clearly has lots of sentimental value. The bow brooch is a much more modern, but very delicate, brooch. This one was a Christmas gift, also from my boyfriend's mum.

My mum picked up this cute grey diamante square glass brooch from a local art shop. This has been handmade by a local artist and came complete in a cute little gift box

The kitsch parrot, gold effect brooch and cameo were all picked up for under £1 each at various charity shops. What I love about charity shop brooches is the fact you don't know who's worn (and loved) these previously.

And finally, probably the most modern of the brooch bunch - a sweet black beaded butterfly from my dear mum.

So there you have it! While they may not be at all expensive, some of these brooches are some of my favourite possessions.

Do you collect anything? Let me know below x
