Lush Review: Vanillary Range

Ever since my friend Sarah bought me a Lush set a few years ago for Christmas, I've been hooked.
Honestly, I think I can literally sniff out a Lush shop from half a mile away!
So I was chuffed to bits when a lovely package from Lush arrived in the post last week.
I've been a giddy kipper trying all the stuff out - and if it wasn't for the busy weekend at the wedding I'd have already posted my review. I've been dying to get on here and tell you what I think.

I was sent a few bits from the new Vanillary range, which is out new in shops.
Like all Lush stuff, it smells good enough to eat and I have to resist the urge to have a sneaky chomp when no-one's looking. hee hee

I received:
Vanilla Dee-Lite Body Lotion
Vanillary Solid Perfume
Vanilla Puff Dusting Powder
Vanilla Fountain bath bomb

Reviews then...

My initial reaction about the body lotion, was blimmin' heck, £10.50!
But then I tried it! It smells absolutely gorgeous and smooths on the skin like a dream.
A little of this really does go a long way, too.
It's altogether a really nice product with a really pretty, feminine smell. Perfect for summer.

When the solid perfume arrived I thought it was a lip balm, which at £6 would've been a fairly pricey one.
But £6 for a perfume. Not bad at all.
It works in much the same way as a lip balm (except you don't put it on your lips!) - you dip your finger in and dab a bit where desired. I can see this little pot lasting forever.
A good idea would be to keep it in a warm room though - I have a feeling this would be easier to apply if it wasn't so, well...solid.

I haven't used talcum powder since I was little, so it was a nice treat to try out Lush's new vanilla one. It's £6.50, so again, maybe a little pricey, but it's a lovely scent and really light on your skin.

Finally, the bath bomb!
I've never seen a bath bomb fizz so much! I've never been massively fond of bath bombs and this one had quite an overpowering smell. But as bath bombs go it was pretty damn good. Top notch. Not bad for £2.69
I split this one in half and gave the other piece to my mum. Aww...

Has anyone tried the new range? x

Interview: Little Boots' Beauty Tips

Little Boots, aka Victoria Hesketh is everywhere at the moment.
But have you ever wondered how she always looks so glam?
Here's my interview with the lovely Blackpool lady (first posted on Barrym.com.)
Isn't everyone loving her debut song 'New In Town'?

HAILED as one of this year's hottest new music stars, singer Little Boots not only topped the BBC 'Sound of 2009' poll, but she's also up for an NME award.
Since posting cover versions of everything from Girls Aloud's 'Sexy! No, No, No' to Joni Mitchell's 'River' on YouTube, Blackpool-born electro popster Little Boots, aka Victoria Hesketh, has become one of music's brightest young acts. I was lucky enough to get an exclusive interview with the stunning Victoria.

Here, Victoria shares some of her essential beauty tips and must-have make up products.

Lauren: Hi Victoria. What have you been up to musically lately and how did it feel to be listed in BBC's Ones to Watch poll and the NME's 2009 list?
Victoria: I'm in the studio finishing off my album which is out later in the year. I'm working in London at the minute then I go to LA to work with some people over there. The press has been really exciting and it's great that people are interested in the project, but it has meant more pressure."

Lauren: What's your daily beauty routine?
Victoria: I cleanse and moisturise twice a day - more when I have shows or shoots that I have to wear a lot of make up for as my skin gets dehydrated. I try drink water a lot but forget half the time!"

Lauren: What's your favourite must-have make-up item?
Victoria:I love smoky eyes so the fat Barry M kohl pencil is great. I love silvers and purples and anything metallic for eyes, and cheek shimmer.

Lauren: Describe your make-up routine
Victoria: Foundation and concealer, then maybe a light base on my eyes and silver or gold shimmer on the lids, black eye liner which I blend in with a darker shadow, then a lighter highlighter or glitter higher up towards the brow. Brows are really important: I usually colour mine a bit darker and more defined and finish eyes with lots of mascara or maybe fake lashes if it's a big show. The rest of the face is quite nude, a bit of blusher and shimmer on my cheek bones and a soft lip shade. I don't like too much heavy gloss - my hair sticks to it when I move! And blot powder for the lights.

Lauren: What's your essential make-up tip?
Victoria: Shade places you want to hide with darker colours and highlight those you do to bring them out.

Barry M VIP Event: 20.5.09

Hi ladies (and gents!),

I was inspired by the lovely folk at Barry M's recent VIP launch event to set up my own beauty blog. So here it is...

I've been following the online beauty community for a while now and I've really enjoyed reading what others have to say.

It was great to meet so many people at the Barry M event in London who're really passionate about the brand and all things beauty orientated.

It was fab to see the brand's very first TV ad and really lovely to meet the online 'gurus' we've all been watching on YouTube.

And how great was it to walk away with a bag full of Barry M goodies?
I'd love to know what you all thought of the event.
Anyway, ta ra for now. x x x
